The Origin of Curing Ceremonies -- #YaNativeLegends
The Origin of Curing Ceremonies -- #YaNativeLegends: This is how ceremonies started among us for the curing of sick people. Long, long ago,
the earth was made. Then the One Who Made the Earth also planned for each person to
have a piece of land that he could live on and call his own.

The Star Husband -- #YaNativeLegends
The Star Husband -- #YaNativeLegends: There was a camp-circle. A party of women went out after some wood for the fire. One
of them saw a porcupine near a cottonwood tree and informed her companions of the
fact. The porcupine ran around the tree , finally climbing it, where upon the woman tried
to hit the animal, but he dodged from one side of the trunk of the tree to the other, for
protection. At length one of the women started to climb the tree to catch the porcupine,
but it ever stopped just beyond her reach. She even tried to reach it with a stick, but with
each effort it went a little higher

How Thunder and Earthquake Made Ocean --- #YaNative
How Thunder and Earthquake Made Ocean --- #YaNative: Thunder lived at Sumig.
One day he said, “How shall the people live there is just prairie there?
Let us place the ocean there.” He said to Earthquake, “I want to have
water there, there so that the people may live. Otherwise they will have
nothing to live on.” He said to Earthquake, “What do you think?”

Great Plains Culture --- #YaNative
Great Plains Culture --- #YaNative: Even those people who know little about Native Americans,
their numerous tribes, and many different ways of
life, are familiar with the Plains Indians. Their horsemanship,
buffalo hunting, tipis, and warbonnets are the most
commonly represented symbols from Indian history.

A Tachi Yokut Myth --- #YaNative
A Tachi Yokut Myth --- #YaNative: A Tachi had a fine wife who died and was buried. Her husband went to her grave and dug a hole near it. There he stayed watching, not eating, using only tobacco. After two nights he saw that she came up, brushed the earth off herself, and started to go to the island of the dead. The man tried to seize her but could not hold her. She went southeast and he followed her. Whenever he tried to hold her she escaped. He kept trying to seize her, however, and delayed her. At daybreak she stopped.

Legend of the White Raven Spirit
Legend of the White Raven Spirit: At the beginning, when the Earth was fresh and new, the Great Spirit, sent down His Raven to enjoy this new creation. As Raven soared down from cloud to cloud he began to take the color of the snow crystals that touched his wings, each crystal being different, like the creation on the earth. The Great Spirit told him, you will
be like the snow flakes you have gathered on your wings, a part of everything new, everything that I have created. You will be for all people. As White Raven soared in the clouds the cool air rushed under his wings, he was singing and shouting songs of praise to his Creator.

Solitude Walker
Solitude Walker: There was only water, and over it a fog. On the water was foam. The foam moved round and round continually, and from it came a voice. After a time there issued from the foam a person in human form. He had wing feathers of the eagle on his head. This was Taiko-mol. He floated on the water and sang. He stood on the foam, which still revolved. There was no light.
